Uber Validation Process
When adding a vehicle to your Flock policy, we share its insurance details with Uber automatically. Here's how that works, what your driver needs to do, and how long it takes.
When you add a vehicle to your Flock policy, we share its insurance details with Uber automatically. Here's how that works, what your driver needs to do, and how long it takes.
The short version: allow 24–48 hours from adding a vehicle on the Flock portal before your driver can be activated on Uber. This runs on a fixed daily cycle, so it can't be sped up once the vehicle is added.
Your driver uploads four documents in the Uber app. The fifth is added by Uber, your driver doesn't need to do anything with it.
| Document | Who provides it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| ✅ Proof of identity | Your driver | Clear, in date and readable |
| ✅ Rental agreement | You (the fleet) | Covers the vehicle your driver is using |
| ✅ Policy Schedule | Flock – download it from the portal | The latest schedule, showing the vehicle's registration |
| ✅ Insurance Certificate | Flock – download it from the portal | The policy number matches the one on the schedule |
| ⚙️ Digital Insurance Certificate | Added by Uber automatically | Nothing – your driver doesn't upload this |
Always upload the original PDF downloaded from the Flock portal. Photos and screenshots are the most common reason Uber rejects a document.
- You add the vehicle to your policy on the Flock portal.
- We send the details to our provider at 8am every day. Each send includes every eligible vehicle added since the previous one.
- Our Instadoc provider processes the details at 10am and shares them securely with Uber.
- Your driver submits the vehicle in the Uber app, with the documents from the checklist above.
- Uber finds your policy, matches the vehicle and attaches the Digital Insurance Certificate.
- Your driver is activated automatically. There's no need to contact anyone.
It depends on when you add the vehicle compared with our 8am daily send.
| If you add the vehicle… | It's included in… | Allow |
|---|---|---|
| Before 8am (e.g. Monday at 7am) | That morning's send (Monday 8am) | Around 24 hours |
| After 8am (e.g. Monday at 9am) | The next morning's send (Tuesday 8am) | Up to 48 hours |
Frequently asked questions
Why does it take 24–48 hours?
Vehicle details pass from Flock to our provider, and then to Uber, once a day on a fixed schedule. Adding a vehicle just after 8am means it waits for the next morning's send.
Can Flock speed it up?
No. The process is automated and runs once a day, so we can't push an individual vehicle through early. If your driver needs to be on the road by a certain date, add the vehicle as early as you can.
Which Policy Schedule should my driver upload?
The latest one from the Flock portal, showing the vehicle your driver is using. An older schedule won't list a newly added vehicle, and Uber will reject it.
Which Insurance Certificate should my driver upload?
The Insurance Certificate for your Flock policy, downloaded from the portal. Uber checks it against the details we've already shared, so it must be the certificate for the same policy. Check that the policy number matches the one on the schedule.
What is the Digital Insurance Certificate?
It's Uber's own record that the vehicle is insured. Uber creates and attaches it once it has matched your driver's vehicle to your policy. Your driver doesn't need to find or upload it.
My driver's documents were rejected. What should they do?
- Check each document is the original PDF from the Flock portal, not a photo or screenshot.
- Check the Policy Schedule is the latest version and shows the vehicle.
- Use Uber's in-app chat to find out why the document was rejected, then upload it again.
Document checks are carried out by Uber, so Uber's in-app chat is the fastest way to resolve a rejected document.
My driver has a green tick for every document but still isn't active. Why?
Uber is still waiting to match the vehicle to your policy. Allow the full 48 hours from when the vehicle was added on the Flock portal.
Does this happen again if we change vehicle or renew?
Yes. Adding a new vehicle, swapping a vehicle or renewing your policy starts the process again. Allow 24–48 hours each time, and make sure your driver uploads the new schedule and certificate.
What about Weekends?
We send our data over to our Instadoc provider every day at 8am, including weekends. However, our provider will not process the file over the weekend and they will process any files submitted after 8am on the Friday on the following Monday. This means that vehicles added after the 8am cut-off on the Friday will not be sent to Uber until the Monday.
When is my vehicle technically insured?
Your vehicle is insured and on cover with Flock from the minute you have added it to our Portal. This is not linked to the Uber validation and the vehicle would be covered to drive from that moment.
It's been more than 48 hours. What now?
Contact us and we'll look into it with Uber for you. Please send:
- the vehicle registration
- the driver's full name
- your policy number
- when the vehicle was added on the Flock portal
Please send these details to support@flockcover.com
