How to Resolve Unmatched Vehicle Registration Numbers (VRNs) in Your Fleet

In the Flock portal, you may have noticed a number of vehicle registration numbers (VRNs), which are showing as unmatched. This means that the VRN does not match with a VRN which we have on record as being currently on cover for your fleet.

Maintaining accurate and connected VRNs in your Telematic Service Provider (TSP) portal is crucial for the processing of journeys and improving the safety of your drivers. The following steps need to take place to resolve these issues and so that we can receive valid VRNs.

Remember, a standard VRN must be included somewhere in the registration field for each vehicle. You can add this in a unique identifier, such as "BP67UMR-MIKEAUDI1", the only requirement is that the registration number must be written in full within the identifier .

If you have Matrix devices

If your fleet uses Matrix devices, follow these steps to resolve unmatched VRNs:

  1. Verify that the devices in your fleet are matching the VRNs in both the Flock and Matrix portals. You can do this through the Matrix SmartLink app or by emailing insurancesupport@matrixiq.com
  2. If you have adjusted vehicles from off cover, to on cover, make sure you have moved your telematics devices over from the off cover vehicles to maintain connection
  3. Order more devices from Matrix if you do not have enough for the vehicles which you have on cover (there will be no charge for this based on your Flock insurance policy)
  4. If you have additional uninstalled devices, please send them back to Matrix to avoid unnecessary charges

If you have another type of telematics device

If your fleet uses a Telematics Service Provider other than Matrix, follow these steps to resolve unmatched VRNs:

  1. Make sure a standard VRN is included somewhere in the registration field for each vehicle in your TSP portal. This could be within a unique identifier, such as "BP67UMR-MIKEAUDI1".
  2. If you have adjusted vehicles from off cover, to on cover, make sure you have moved your telematics devices over from the off cover vehicles to maintain connection
  3. Order more devices from your TSP if you do not have enough based on the number of vehicles you are putting on cover, the link for the TSP order page can be found on the TSP website.
