The CAA operates a permissions and exemptions scheme which is designed to enable operations beyond the normal bounds of the regulations laid down within the Air Navigation Order (ANO).

You will only be granted a permission or exemption provided that the CAA is satisfied that this can be achieved in a safe manner. More information on this can be found here.

For certain areas (for example if you are close to a prison), you may also need written permission from the owner/organisation which runs the structure that is causing the restriction.

If you want to purchase a policy for a restricted area, please contact us on and include any approvals, exemptions and permissions you may have to operate in that area and we will do our best to help.
